Overview

Interlaken to Grindelwald is about 25 minutes of driving without stops. The fastest sensible line is A8/Hauptstrasse 6 south to Wilderswil, then Route 221 up the Schwarze Lütschine valley through Zweilütschinen, Lütschental and Burglauenen into Grindelwald. Below: what the drive actually costs you in tolls and time, where it is worth stopping, and what to know before you set off.

Before you go: Grindelwald is a dead end for private cars. The Grosse Scheidegg road that continues over to Meiringen is closed to general traffic and is used only by the PostBus service (roughly May to October), so you have to drive back down the same Lütschental valley — do not plan it as a loop back to Interlaken or Meiringen.
