The fastest sensible line is Munich Mittlerer Ring/A95 southbound (Autobahn Garmisch-Partenkirchen) for about 67 km to its end at Eschenlohe, then the B2 through the Oberau bypass tunnel and the Farchant tunnel into Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Before you go: The A95 motorway ends at Eschenlohe and the final run into Garmisch is the two-lane B2. That Eschenlohe–Oberau section is an active building site: it is being rebuilt as a four-lane road with the new 1.9 km Auerbergtunnel, whose excavation starts in July 2026 and which is years from completion, so traffic stays on the old two-lane B2 through the works.
