Overview

Zurich to Lauterbrunnen is about 1 hr 55 min of driving without stops. The fastest sensible line is A3/A4 Zurich–Zug, A14 to Lucerne, A2 to the Lopper, A8 over the Brünig Pass to Brienz, then off the A8 at the Wilderswil exit and up the Lütschine valley road through Zweilütschinen into Lauterbrunnen. Below: what the drive actually costs you in tolls and time, where it is worth stopping, and what to know before you set off.

Before you go: Lauterbrunnen is the end of the road for most visitors: Wengen and Mürren above it are car-free and cannot be driven to at all, not even to drop bags. Leave the car in the multi-storey car park directly below Lauterbrunnen station (around CHF 14 per day) and take the train, or park at Stechelberg (1,500+ spaces) for the Mürren cableway.
