Overview

Innsbruck to Cortina d'Ampezzo is about 2 hr 15 min of driving without stops. The fastest sensible line is A13 Brenner Autobahn south from Innsbruck-Süd over the Brenner Pass, then Italy's A22 to the Bressanone/Val Pusteria exit, SS49 east through Val Pusteria via Brunico to Dobbiaco/Toblach, then SS51 (Alemagna) south over Passo Cimabanche into Cortina. Below: what the drive actually costs you in tolls and time, where it is worth stopping, and what to know before you set off.

Before you go: The A13 Brenner motorway is NOT covered by the Austrian vignette: from the Innsbruck-Süd junction to the Italian border it is a separate section toll, about EUR 12.50 for a car in 2026, paid at the Schönberg toll plaza just south of Innsbruck (ASFINAG section-toll rates rose ~3.5% on 1 January 2026). Italy's A22 down to the Bressanone/Val Pusteria exit is a second, ticket-based toll.
