The fastest sensible line is Road 27 down the Engadine from St. Moritz to Zernez, road 28 over the Ofenpass (Pass dal Fuorn, 2,149 m) through the Swiss National Park and down the Val Müstair, across the Swiss–Italian border at Müstair/Tubre, then SS41 into the Vinschgau and SS40/SS38 via Glorenza and Silandro to Merano, finishing on the MeBo superstrada (SS38) to Bolzano. Before you go: Road 28 over the Ofenpass runs straight through the Swiss National Park, and the park's protection regulations apply to drivers: you may only stop at the numbered lay-bys P1 to P10 along the pass road, sleeping overnight in a vehicle beside the road is prohibited, and dogs are banned from the park entirely — not even on a lead.
