Overview

Ortisei is already in Val Gardena — so there is no drive between the two. Val Gardena (Grödnertal / Gherdëina) is the valley; Ortisei (St. Ulrich / Urtijëi) is its largest village and the first one you reach coming up from Bolzano. The other two are Santa Cristina and Selva, strung along the same SS242 valley road.

What people usually mean by this search is either how to reach the valley in the first place, or how to move between its three villages once they are there. Both are below.

Getting between the villages: Ortisei to Santa Cristina is about 4 km and Ortisei to Selva about 6 km on the SS242 — five to ten minutes by car. The free Val Gardena ski-bus and the summer Mobilcard buses link all three, which is usually easier than moving the car, because each village centre has restricted traffic and paid garages.
